Yuri & Merel
Festival wedding at Buitenplaats Vaeshartelt
When I first met Yuri & Merel through a video call, since they were not residing in Maastricht, we hit it off immediately. I was thrilled at the prospect of capturing the wedding of these wonderful and kind individuals. Our initial online meeting turned into a delightful conversation where we discussed everything except their wedding. It was a serendipitous connection, as they were doing their internship in Bangkok at the same time as I was, yet our paths never crossed. During our second get together, face to face in Maastricht we had another lovely chat and they told me the joyful news that Merel was pregnant and would be carrying their first child during the wedding. How special is that?
I was thrilled to wrap up my wedding season with their truly magical festival wedding at Buitenplaats Vaeshartelt. The warmth and hospitality of the wonderful guests and family put me completely at ease, allowing me to work my magic and create a stunning gallery that the couple and I cherish revisiting. Reflecting on their gallery continues to fill me with immense joy. It stands out as one of the finest series of that year, largely attributed to the incredible positivity and personalities of Yuri and Merel.

Getting ready
The big day started inside Buitenplaats Vaeshartelt, with the estate bustling with excitement and preparations. Merel was getting dressed with her bridal party in one of the rooms of the castle and Yuri and his friends at the gate house, getting themselves in top form for the very emotion first look that was soon to follow.
They see us rollin’
After the emotional first look in the castles garden, Yuri & Merel traveled to Maastricht to visit the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwebasiliek or “Sterre der Zee” and take their first bridal portraits. The atmosphere was joyful and this is definitely reflecting in the photographs. Following this, they attended the wedding ceremony, which was a deeply emotional and personal event filled with tears, laughter and some very unique moments.
Smiling into the night
After the “official” parts of the day we kicked off the rest of the program with a reception, follow by a lovely dinner with fine speeches, some more bridal photography and their own private festival in the castle gardens. There were nothing but smiles during the rest of the wedding and it was a joy to experience Yuri & Merel’s big day together with their family and friends.
